WPA Helplines are there for you

The Health and Wellbeing Helpline benefit is available for WPA members and their family member(s) to access. If you're insured under your employer's Company Scheme, you will know this benefit as the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). Please note: the Health and Wellbeing Helpline/EAP is not available to family member(s) under 16 years of age.

If you are struggling in any way at all or just want to talk things through to see if there are ways of improving your resilience and wellbeing, please call the WPA Helplines (numbers are provided within the WPA Health app and your WPA literature). You have remote access to a team of counsellors, 24/7, 365 days a year. Benefit is provided by the WPA Helpline Provider which is a third party providing the 24/7 helpline subject to their terms and conditions, which may be amended from time to time.

24/7 telephone support for you and your family member(s). Just one phone call can deliver the highest quality support.

Support for emotional concerns

Confidential, single session telephone counselling is designed to provide immediate support on a wide range of emotional issues, either of a personal or work related nature. These sessions can vary in length but not exceed 60 minutes, and may include signposting to relevant onward referral resources for further support.

Also available: where clinically appropriate, an online computerised Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (cCBT) Life Skills Course. Living Life to the Full is an online cCBT life skills course, aimed at people who would like to develop their skills in coping with anxiety and depression, as well as people suffering from anxiety or depression.

Wellbeing and health information

A specialist team are available to offer non-diagnostic guidance and information on a wide range of health related issues.

  • illness and disease;
  • pregnancy and maternity matters;
  • childcare and eldercare concerns;
  • diet and exercise;
  • travel immunisation.

Debt and managing your money

Assistance to help tackle financial difficulties. A specialist team can help with debt management concerns such as:

  • mortgage or rent arrears;
  • credit card debt;
  • payment options and budgeting;
  • help and information with aspects of budgeting, state benefits, pensions, mortgages, tax and tax credits.

A team of legal experts with wide-ranging experience will provide friendly, helpful, legal information and signposting with the minimum amount of jargon.

  • housing/tenancy;
  • wills/probate;
  • consumer rights.

Manager Support Helpline (for companies as part of their WPA Company Scheme)

Access to a specialist team of Qualified Counsellors who provide managers with a sounding board for staff issues and support.

  • Managing mental health issues in the workplace;
  • Trauma;
  • Duty of care;
  • Challenging performance reviews;
  • A colleague's return to work after absence;
  • Supporting a distressed colleague; and
  • Bereavement or critical illness in the team.
