About us

We’re experts in health insurance - that’s all we do.

We provide access to the sort of healthcare that we want for ourselves and our families. We’ve been helping our members as a not-for-profit organisation since 1901. That’s quite a while now and, because we're good at it, that’s all we do. Just health insurance. No distractions.

By partnering with like-minded individuals and companies, we offer groundbreaking personal and business health insurance policies that have truly revolutionised healthcare in the UK. From funding cancer drugs not readily available on the NHS, the first benefit of its kind, to being recognised by the World Health Organisation as leading in the development of new policies that reduce costs for our members.

Having won numerous consumer awards, we continually strive to outshine the competition and deliver policies our members trust.

Our policy is our
promise to you

Everyone hopes they’ll never need to use their health insurance. But should the worst happen, and you need to make a claim, you expect your insurance provider to be there for you. When you take out one of our policies, you can be confident that we’ll deliver on our promise.

All our members are free to choose where, when and who provides them with treatment. Our continued investment in innovative technologies lets us proactively manage claims, so you have one less thing to worry about.

Whatever you need, we’ll be there to help.

Our members trust us to deliver on our promise, and rate our claim service as 4.7 out of 5

Our beliefs are
care and respect

We’re not hampered by the demands of shareholders motivated to make a profit, meaning we’re free to act differently from the rest. We don’t set ourselves sales targets. Instead, we focus on the service we provide our members. We’re all trained first and foremost to listen. To ask questions with empathy, respect and understanding. To give the best advice. To never rush. To care.

Our standards are exceptionally high, and others agree

On an annual basis we are independently audited by the BSI certification body for the following internationally recognised standards:
ISO logos demonstrating WPA's four accreditations
  • Information Security Management
    ISO/IEC 27001:2013

We take the security of our members' information very seriously. As one of the first UK insurance companies to achieve the internationally recognised Information Security Management standard, we do everything possible to protect sensitive information from unauthorised access.

  • Quality Management
    ISO 9001:2015

We keep our standards of service extremely high by continually and critically reviewing what we do. We provide the highest levels of customer service and are independently certified as meeting the standards for Quality Management Systems on a company-wide basis.

  • Business Continuity Management
    ISO 22301:2012

We work hard to protect our members at all times. So even if something unexpected happens to us, like a fire, we can still continue to operate as usual. We are proud to have achieved full accreditation for Business Continuity Management, meaning our members can always rely on us no matter what might happen.

  • Environmental Management
    ISO 14001:2015

We invest in systems and services to reduce waste of our natural resources. The paper we use is made up of fibre sourced from well-managed forests, independently certified according to the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council. We have been awarded the Environmental Management standard - one of the highest benchmarks in environmental management and best practice.
