Solar panels installation completed at WPA Head Office

16 October 2025

With the dual purpose of helping reduce carbon emissions and ensuring that customer service is unaffected in the event of a power outage, work began in January 2025 to fit solar panels across the rooves of the WPA Head Office building in Taunton. Completed in August, the tiles are now set to deliver a reduction of 31 tonnes of CO2 emissions in WPA's carbon output, every year.

This exciting development follows installation of energy-saving LED light bulbs in the entirety of WPA's office last year, while all business vehicles are now hybrid or fully electric. WPA can also boast six battery groups storing a combined 240 kilowatt-hours of power, and what's more, WPA's energy output can be managed in real time through the Synergy app; allowing for flexibility and insight into how to get the most out of every watt generated.

WPA anticipate that, moving forward, approximately 20% of their energy will be self-generated, and for the rest of the electricity that is needed, emissions are offset through CO2Balance's carbon offset projects (source: Our environmental commitment).
