Employer FAQs
Once the Company Scheme is set up, you can manage administrative changes, including adding or removing members, via your WPA secure online portal.
Alternatively, you can contact us and we will be delighted to assist you.
For private medical insurance (PMI) claims for Specialist or hospital treatment or for Mental Health claims: The Company Scheme member will need to let us know in advance of receiving treatment. This pre-authorisation can be done 24/7 via the WPA Health App or by contacting the WPA Customer Service Team.
They can self-refer to a Therapist or Specialist, without the need to see a GP, for a short course of eligible treatment if the condition is not related to Mental Health. However, as above this requires them to contact us in advance of receiving treatment.
For cash benefit claims: If a Company Scheme member is looking to claim money back on their everyday healthcare expenses under one of the various Cash Benefit options selected (e.g. optical, dental or for health screens) then they can sign in to their secure online account and follow the on-screen instructions or use the WPA Health App.
Yes, PCH is a hybrid product that will not only allow you to mix and match different benefit levels, but also the different benefit options. Each employee can have different options and levels of cover allowing you to offer a uniquely tailored benefit structure that reflects your company's requirements.
If you want the option to add the family members of your employees to the Company Scheme, you can do so and they can also have different options and levels of cover.
WPA's Group Deductible is an intelligent way to fund your company's health insurance Company Scheme. It will reduce your costs but not your benefits and there's no additional risk. By choosing the Group Deductible option, your payment is split into two parts:
- 30% covers the first 30% of claims received ("the deductible"). For most Groups, these claims costs are likely to arise, so why pay a premium on this part.
- 70% pays for the insurance premium. This covers the less certain element of claims and by taking out insurance you know exactly what you will pay.
By choosing to pay your premium in this way, you reduce the overall cost to your company. This guaranteed saving enables you to use your money more efficiently. What's more, if claims are less than the 30% deductible, you get this back as a rebate.
Please find below a link through to the government website approving the use of Group Deductible. See section 4.3 for specific details: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/notice-ipt-1-insurance-premium-tax/notice-ipt1-insurance-premium-tax
Yes. Through our Precision Analytics platform via your Relationship Manager you have access to a detailed breakdown of the Group's performance and spend. As a not-for-profit company we are pleased to provide this higher level of transparency which enables you to gain an in-depth understanding of how the Company Scheme is being used and the costs - without identifying details of individual claimants.
Yes. For each employee, five children up until the age of 24 can be included on their Company Scheme membership. We charge for the eldest child, but any subsequent children added are free of charge.
Children must reside at the same address as their parent unless they are living away for full time education.
Once a child reaches the age of 25, they can remain as a family member on the Company Scheme provided they still live at the same address as their parent and are not married. Each child aged 25 years and older incurs an additional premium.
Premiums can only be recouped for family members, not your employees and the premium must be paid by the company to WPA.
There is no maximum joining age, but all members must be a current company employee or a family member.
Yes, if an employee leaves the Company Scheme part way through the year, we'll make a pro-rata refund to you provided they have not made any claims.
