Focus

How small steps can make a big difference to your overall wellbeing.

Your health in focus

When it comes to looking after ourselves, it's easy to lose our way. We often put others first and neglect our own needs. Yet when we take the time and effort to focus on ourselves, the results soon follow. When we pay attention to the details, we start to see how they shape the bigger picture - our nutrition, our wellbeing, our fitness and our community. Focus on each of these areas, and you may be surprised how much better you feel overall.

Eat the rainbow

Eating plenty of colourful fruits and vegetables gives your body vitamins, minerals, and fibre that boost energy, strengthen your immune system, and help protect you from illness and disease.

Time outdoors

Spending time outdoors in nature can lower stress, calm your mind, and lift your mood - even short walks in green spaces can make you feel happier and healthier.

Stay strong

Doing about an hour of strength exercises each week, like lifting weights or push-ups, helps keep your muscles strong, your heart healthy, and can help you live longer.

Connect

Spending time with friends, family, and your community strengthens your sense of belonging, increases happiness, and reminds you that together, we're stronger and healthier.

At WPA, we're committed to supporting your health and wellbeing every step of the way. We aim to inform, inspire and empower you to make positive choices that help you feel your best. Join us throughout the year as we share ideas, insights and practical ways to live well - today and into the future.

Focus on your health and wellbeing

This year, we're focusing on four key themes designed to support your health and wellbeing. From expert tips and practical advice to videos, articles and online discussions, there's plenty to explore. Follow along and take part as we explore fresh ideas and insights throughout the year.

Focus on nutrition

Focus on nutrition

January - March

Good nutrition is so important for our body and our brain. When we fuel our brain with the right balance of nutrients it performs at its best. In this phase of our Focus campaign, we're highlighting the importance of nutrition. This includes simple, sustainable habits that sharpen attention, stabilise mood, and help maintain the physical stamina and immune health required to keep us going. By understanding how what we eat directly impacts how we think and feel, we can take small steps that make a big difference to our ability to concentrate and stay on track.

Focus on wellbeing

Focus on wellbeing

April - June

Wellbeing is about more than just our physical health. It's the harmony between our body, our mind, and our daily habits that allows us to thrive. In this phase of our Focus campaign, we're looking at practices that nurture calm, lift our mood, and strengthen our sense of overall vitality. By tuning into what supports us, we can build a foundation that helps us navigate life with greater ease, confidence, and satisfaction.

Focus on fitness

Focus on fitness

July - September

Fitness isn't just about workouts, it's about moving our body in ways that build confidence, resilience, and joy. In this phase of our Focus campaign, we're looking at simple, achievable steps that help us to feel stronger, boost our stamina, and support our overall health. By embracing movement that fits our lives we can create momentum that lifts our mood, sharpens our focus, and empowers us to feel our best.

Focus on community

Focus on community

October - December

Community is about connection, support, and shared motivation. When we come together we create a sense of belonging that strengthens every part of our wellbeing. In this phase of our Focus campaign, we're looking at the power of shared experiences - learning together, moving together, or simply showing up for one another. Meaningful connections create an environment where everyone feels encouraged, inspired, and empowered to grow.

From January to March, our Focus campaign will spotlight how nourishing food choices support clearer thinking and a healthier body, by building easy, long-lasting nutrition habits that can help boost concentration, balance mood and support our immune system. When we understand the link between what we eat and how we feel it can help us to make small changes that have a big impact each day.

Energy drink

Six things (good and bad) to understand about energy drinks

Sometimes an energy drink can feel like the quickest fix when you're flagging. They can perk you up, but there's a bit more going on behind that brightly coloured can. If you've ever wondered whether they're actually helping or quietly causing trouble, this article's for you.

Make sure you know your numbers (and not just blood pressure ones)

Think you only need to know your blood pressure? There's a whole set of numbers that can quietly shape your health - from salt and sugar to cholesterol and fats. Getting clued up on these nutrition numbers isn't about obsession, it's about spotting risks early and making smarter choices…without losing your enjoyment of food.
