The role

WPA is one of the UK’s most respected Health Insurers. Due to our ongoing success and continued growth, we currently have a vacancy for a Cyber Security Operations Engineer to join our Cyber Security Team. This role will work closely with the Information Security Manager and Chief Operating Officer and will be required to offer security expertise for a variety of projects, which include cloud services, application development, network and infrastructure security.

What can you bring to WPA?

  • You will have 5 or more years’ proven experience of working on complex technical cyber security principles, ideally in a fast-paced and regulated environment and a degree in computer science or equivalent professional certification.
  • You will have detailed technical security knowledge (including an understanding of the latest security principals, techniques, threat modelling/handling and emerging standards) and be passionate about protecting all computer systems, software, databases, networks, infrastructures and information.
  • Proven experience in managing security systems (including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering), web related technologies (web applications, web services, service oriented architectures and of network/web related protocols) and network security and monitoring tools is essential.
  • You will need to be an excellent communicator at all levels and be someone who can transfer complex security speech into something more practical for everyone to understand - building rapport and having excellent working relationships is key.
