What´s not covered with Active Health insurance

As with all health insurance policies, there are certain things that are not covered. Active Health specifically excludes the following list which is a summary only. For a full list please see ´What is not covered´ in ´A Guide to Your Policy´. A copy is also available on request.

  • Any medical conditions you had when you took out the policy (pre-existing conditions) unless declared to and accepted in writing by WPA. You are also not covered for any medical conditions/symptoms, whether diagnosed or not, if these arise in the first 14 days of cover.
  • Pre-existing conditions are any disease, illness or injury for which:
    • you have received medication, advice or treatment; or
    • you have experienced symptoms
    whether the condition has been diagnosed or not before the start of your cover.
  • Eligible treatment up to your excess and any treatment costs over the annual limit of £150,000
  • Cancers diagnosed or for which symptoms or signs develop within the first 90 days of the policy commencing, unless agreed in writing by WPA (applies to new policyholders of WPA)
  • Any long-term illnesses that lead to long-term monitoring or management (chronic conditions)
  • Dental problems
  • Fertility problems, pregnancy & childbirth
  • Neonatal treatment
  • Psychiatric conditions
  • Cosmetic surgery
  • Care and/or treatment arising from or related to taking part in winter sports (e.g. skiing, snowboarding), scuba diving, motor sports or engaging in professional sport or any accident or injury that occurs whilst on a winter sports holiday.
  • Care and/or treatment arising from or related to the removal of healthy tissue from any part of the body even if this is for medical or psychological reasons. Examples including but not limited to surgery for gynaecomastia, labiaplasty and circumcision.
  • We do not pay for treatments intended to relieve symptoms arising from or related to any natural cause which are not due to any underlying disease, illness or injury.
  • Any claim that has not been pre-authorised
  • If you have chosen the emergency abroad extra:
    • Travel to the USA and its dependency Puerto Rico.
    • Conditions (and any related conditions) you have undergone treatment for in the 6 months prior to travel.
