You may have seen reported on television and in the press that some insurers restrict the choice of specialists their customers can see. This appears to be a commercial decision rather than a clinical one.
WPA has not and does not support the process called ´Open Referral´.
We believe the choice of consultant should be a clinically-led decision where our policyholders see a specialist as a result of their experience and specialisation and not as a result of their cheapness.
