Knee Arthroscopy: Update

An empty hospital corridoor

In recognition of the BOA/BASK statement following the recently published BMJ article (Thorlund JB, Juhl CB, Roos EM and Lohmander LS. Arthroscopic surgery for degenerative knee: systemic review and meta-analysis of benefits and harms. BMJ 2015; 350: 2747), arthroscopy for osteoarthritis of the knee will not now be covered by WPA for patients 40 years of age or older.

Where exceptional circumstances exist, WPA´s medical advisors will consider clinically substantiated submissions from specialists on a case by case basis.

Such clinical submissions should be sent by e-mail to info.cmo@wpa.org.uk.
