About WPA

Our origins trace back to 1901 where we began as the Reading Working Peoples’ Voluntary Hospital Contributory Fund. Over a century later this fund has become WPA, remaining true to the principle of making healthcare affordable for hundreds and thousands of people, their families and companies.

WPA continue to innovate to offer the most competitive blend of premiums and benefits - giving excellent value to our customers, not short-term shareholder gains.

We are the only medical insurer to volunteer details of Ombudsman complaints against us and we always encourage feedback from our customers - be that good or bad. Underpinning our customer service is our British Standard Accreditations, ensuring that we have the processes in place to deliver the promises that we make to our customers. The four BSI Accreditations we have earned are the four pillars to our business, they are externally audited, regularly assessed and give our customers ´peace of mind´.

ISO 9001 The principal internationally recognised standard for Quality Management Systems placing emphasis on customer feedback and the processes of management. ISO 22301 Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Certification. ISO 14001 Internationally recognised Standard for Environmental Management Systems, one of the highest benchmarks in environmental management and best practice. ISO 27001 Internationally recognised Standard for Information Security Management Systems - the benchmark for protecting customers valuable and sensitive information. WPA is one of the first insurance companies to achieve this Standard company-wide.
