The Purpose of Health Insurance

Private health insurance provides funding for elective, short term, specialist care that is provided with curative intent. This means that there is reasonable expectation that it will restore you to the same or possibly even better health than you enjoyed before treatment.

Private Medical Insurance indemnifies you for your medical costs in accordance with your prevailing benefits. If payment is made direct to providers it is made on your behalf.

Health Insurance does not cover long term management of incurable conditions and is not a replacement for the NHS.
